The missing trip

So, in transferring this blog to a new address, I have realised that one of our World cup trips is in fact missing. In 2007 two trips were made to 2007 Rugby World Cup. I did not do a blog in those days, but for the sake of completeness I have added some photos onto this blog under a new category. Enjoy.

The first trip was the quarter final weekend in Marseille. I went (Paul) along with my brother Mark and what a weekend it was. We saw two games:

Australia 10 – England 12
Now this was a game. Jonny Wilkinson kick all our points in a game we were not expected to win. Winning the game in the afternoon meant it was party night in Marseille that night. The party only got bigger when France manage to beat New Zealand 20-18 in the evening kick off (this is the last time New Zealand lost in the RWC). We watched this game in a little bar in the side streets and only after did we enter the main square in Marseille which was amazing.

South Africa 37 – Fiji 20
Now this is a game I don’t really remember after the day before. Sure I enjoyed myself though.

So the next part was the final weekend itself. After winning the semi final I booked my car onto the Tunnel so we could be in Paris. Myself, Paula, Mark and Kellie made the trip. Kellie celebrated her 18th birthday on the trip. Memories??? Well on the Friday night the inability to find a taxi to get us home and then on the Saturday driving ‘old rusty’ around Paris and sitting in the park watching the final on a big screen.
Now England had already lost to South Africa in the pool stage and the final was a repeat. Final Score England 6 – South Africa 15.
